REHOBOTH BEACH, Del. – A Virginia man is facing charges after he was found sleeping in someone’s bed in Rehoboth Beach. Police say 26-year-old Thomas Obrien of Arlington, VA entered to home early Sunday morning.

Around 4:24 a.m. troopers were called to the 38000 block of Pine Lane for a burglary in progress. Police say the homeowner woke up and found Obrien in a rear bedroom on the second floor of the house. When police arrived, Obrien was partially clothed and sleeping in the bed. Police say they woke Obrien up and got him out of the bed. Obrien was arrested without incident, but police say they could smell a strong odor of alcohol on him. Later on, the homeowner found Obrien’s wet clothing in the bedroom, and found that he had been wearing one of their t-shirts.

Obrien was taken to Delaware State Police Troop 7 and charged with second degree burglary and theft. He was arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court #3 and taken to Sussex Correctional Institution on $2,600 secured bond. Troopers are reminding the public to always remember to lock their doors.
