Body found in Dover corn field
DOVER, Del. – Delaware State Police have opened a homicide investigation after a body was found in a corn field in Dover. Police say around 8:57 a.m. Saturday, the Delaware State Police Homicide Unit was called to the 2000 block of Dyke Branch Road. When troopers arrived, they say they found a body in a nearby field.
Investigators say the body was that of a 30-year-old woman. They say the victim had multiple gunshot wounds to her upper body, and was confirmed to be dead on the scene. The victim was taken to the Division of Forensic Science for an autopsy, to figure out how she died. The name of the victim is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
