Alleged hitchhiker charged for illegal gun possession

Maryland State Police Berlin Barrack say they have arrested a 20-year-old man after he was found in possession of a handgun illegally in Worcester County.
According to reports, troopers responded to the area of Route 113 at Woodside Lane at about 10:15 PM for reports of an individual waving down vehicles from the shoulder of the roadway. When troopers arrived they found Isaiah Bowden who reportedly told them he was trying to get a ride to Dover. Troopers say, Bowden reached into his left pants pocket multiple times after being told not to do so. On the third time, Bowden reached into his pocket and reportedly stated to police he had a handgun. He was then reportedly taken into custody without incident. Police say, they found a loaded Titan .25 caliber semi-automatic handgun inside of Bowden’s left front pants pocket.
According to the Maryland Gun Center the handgun was not stolen and not registered. However, police say Bowden does not have a handgun permit in Maryland and was found to be prohibited from possessing a firearm due to a previous sex offense in Delaware.
Bowden was charged with handgun on person, illegally possessing ammunition, possession of a firearm by a minor and illegal possession of a regulated firearm.
He was transported to the Ocean City Commissioner’s Office.
