Easton man charged with attempted murder following bat and bottle brawl

An Easton man has been arrested on attempted murder charges in Easton, after he apparently involved a violent fight after an evening of drinking.
Easton Police say on Tuesday around 12:35 AM, Officers responded to reports of an assault in progress on Shirley Drive. Once on scene, Officers reportedly found a man lying facedown on the ground, unconscious, and bleeding from his head. There was reportedly a bat found next to the 55-year-old Easton man.
Police say just down the street, they found a crowd of people, which included 21-year-old Nathaniel Hollinger, who they say had blood on him. The victim, identified as Maurice Evans, was flown to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center because of the severity of his injuries.
Police say their investigation showed that Hollinger, Evans, and someone else were drinking at Evan’s home, when they started arguing. According to the report, Hollinger hit Evans in the head with a bottle, and then left the house. Police say Evans then grabbed a bat, and a second assault took place in front of the home between Hollinger and Evans.
He reportedly had a skull fracture, a broken nose, and a laceration to his head, and is apparently listed in stable condition. Evans is not expected to face charges in the incident.
Hollinger was charged with attempted murder 2nd degree, assault 1st and 2nd degree, reckless endangerment, and dangerous weapon with intent to injure. He is now being held at the Talbot County Detention Center on a $50,000 bond.
