Pedestrian critical after being hit by car in Bear

The Delaware State Police says a man is in critical condition after being struck by a car in Bear.

Troopers say the crash happened around 11:15 p.m. Friday as the driver of a Nissan Altima was traveling westbound on Pulaski Highway approaching Rickey Boulevard. Troopers say the Nissan struck a pedestrian who stepped into the roadway. The Nissan stopped but was then struck by a Chevrolet Silverado.

The pedestrian, identified by the State Police as 60-year-old Anthony Jenkins of Lewes, was airlifted to Christiana Medical Center where he is in critical condition. Troopers say he was not crossing in a designated crosswalk or carrying a flashlight.

The driver of the Nissan and the Chevrolet were not injured. No charges have been filed.
