Man facing DUI charges in connection to Milford crash

A man is facing DUI charges, after police say he was involved in a crash and gave officers a fake name, in Milford.
The Milford Police Department says on Friday, just before 4:00 PM, officers responded to South DuPont Boulevard (US Route 113), in the area of Old Shawnee Road, for a report of a vehicle crash, in Milford. According to the report, during the investigation of the crash, one of the drivers was suspected to be driving a vehicle under the influence of alcohol.
After further investigation, which included field sobriety tests, 31-year-old Mervin Sales-Perez, of Georgetown, was taken into custody. Officers report that Sales-Perez initially gave a false name, but he was later positively identified.
Authorities report that the driver of the other vehicle was taken by Carlisle Fire Company personnel to Bayhealth to be treated for minor injuries.
Sales-Perez was charged with criminal impersonation, driving a vehicle under the influence of alcohol, driving without a valid license, failure to have insurance identification in possession, and inattentive driving.
He was issued $2,003 secured bail at the Justice of the Peace Court 3, in Georgetown. Sales-Perez was was then turned over to the Sussex Correctional Institution.
