Information sought in pedestrian hit-and-run

Delaware State Police say they are investigating a serious hit and run crash that left a male pedestrian injured Sunday morning.

We’re told the crash happened just before 7:00 a.m. Investigators tell 47ABC, a 77-year-old Magnolia man was walking on his property when an unknown vehicle traveling eastbound on Walnut Shade Road struck him and his mail box.

According to police, the man was thrown into the roadway from the impact and landed in the middle of Walnut Shade Road. Police reports show the vehicle fled the scene and continued traveling eastbound on Walnut Shade Road.

The victim was transported by ambulance to Kent General Hospital, where he was admitted in stable condition with multiple traumatic injuries according to Sergeant Richard Bratz of the Delaware State Police.

Troopers are reportedly continuing to collect and analyze evidence at the scene to determine make and model of the striking vehicle.

Walnut Shade Road was closed for approximately one hour while the crash was investigated and cleared.
