Police: 1 dead in fatal pedestrian crash

Police are investigating a fatal pedestrian crash that occurred on Tuesday afternoon.
According to police, the crash happened around 4:53 p.m. as 19-year-old Delmar man Robert Moore was traveling southbound in the right lane on Sussex Highway just north of Boyce Road.
Police reports show an 82-year-old Laurel man was walking westbound from the center median and entered into the southbound lanes, where he was struck and thrown to the ground.
The 82-year-old victim, whose name is being withheld pending the notification of next of kin, was transported by EMS to Nanticoke Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Police tell 47 ABC Moore, who was properly restrained, was also taken by EMS to Nanticoke Memorial Hospital where he was treated and released with non-life-threatening injuries.
The Collision Reconstruction Unit is continuing the investigation into this incident.
