Celebrating Kids Day at the Delaware State Fair

HARRINGTON, Del.- It was all smiles at the Delaware State Fair Tuesday as it was all about the young ones! Something they said was special.

“Happy because most of the time the spotlights the grown-ups,” Alanah Gosch, a part of a summer camp, said.

“It’s going good, I’m hanging out with my friends,” Tariyah Nocks, a part of a summer camp, said.

“I just like how its so fun here,” Briar Bacon, a part of a summer camp, said.

We are told for Kid’s Day children had the opportunity to jump around to many of the fun activities the fair has to offer.

They even had exhibits customized just for them, as well as a health fair.

“Just help spread the word about proper way to brush your teeth, savings as well as skin care, and putting on sun screen,” Danny Aguilar, Assistant General Manager and Director of Marketing for the Delaware State Fair, said.

“On average, we see between 7 and 10,000 kids from 9 o’clock from about 3 o’clock when they have to go back to camp and return back home, but there’s a lot of camps out here people are excited and having a good time at the Delaware State Fair, Aguilar said.

Shelby Farris, a 16-year-old helping at the Health Fair said she enjoys seeing kids learning more about their health, information that can be valuable for their future.

“It makes me feel really great to be able to be in the community and really just like serving other and getting other kids my age to be able to serve others,” Shelby Farris, with Volunteer Delaware, said.

And kids we spoke with agree.

“So, you always have to be healthy and eat what you want to eat like greens and everything else 10 lettuce and stuff so you’re healthy,”
Willvon Barlow, a part of a summer camp, said.

“So, we don’t grow up and be not healthy,” Gosch said.

While the health fair was a hit, kids said they’re excited to also see the other attractions while spending time with their friends.

“My favorite part is that I came here with all my friends and we can ride rides,” Gosch said.

“I want to ride the pink horsey,” Raygen Lovett, a part of a summer camp, said.

“It’s fun being outside with everybody, especially with the summer camp and everybody else,” Barlow said.
