and angela — we’ve been talking about football so much, but there are other sports in action as well! yes! including one of my favorite sports! soccer! there’s actually a tournament at s-u! the salisbury university classic continued today starting with the s-u men’s team taking on rutgers – camden … the raptors start things out here – a beautiful cross and finish , but it would be called back with off-sides … s-u gets things going with a corner… keeper — james brett — snags this one… he’ll get called for hand ball after stepping outide the 18 with the ball… that means a direct kick outside the box for the gulls… tyler andrus — finds the side net and the gulls take a 1-nil lead… and that would be the final. and the women’s team was also in action taking on — east mennonite… and the gulls got things started quickly on a corner 2 minutes in — samantha beck — lays the perfect ball in… — erin mcquate — finishes it to take the 1-nil lead. then just another minute into the game — victoria luc — puts away the header.. nicely done and the gulls have a 2-nil lead. and they won’t stop there — jenna deletto strikes this one — for the low — far post – finish! then in the 7th minute… luc is back — she’d help make it 4-0 with a header.. as s-u takes this one, 9-0 th final.. and taking things to the m-l-b… september 6th – is not only special because it’s my grandmother’s birthday, but also – 20 years ago, it became a day – that no baltimore fan will ever forget… — cal ripken jr. took his famous trot around camden yards after breaking hall of famer – lou gerig’s — 56 year old record — for most consecutive games played in major league baseball… starting on may 30, 1982 — ripken — played consecutively in 2 thousand – 1 hundred and 31 games — a record that took nearly 13 years to produce… now, once he broke — lou gehrig’s record — he didn’t stop… in fact, ripken continued to play in 2 thousand 6 hundred and 32 games before taking the bench — to put that into perspective — ripken — played in every single game for more than 16 seasons… a record and a feat that will probably never be broken — not just in the m-l-b, but across entire sports … so enjoy this today o’s fans! well only because the orioles couldn’t get it done on the field today in toranto against the blue jays — the jays were up 6-0 at the end of the 4th inning — the birds looked to get back in this one with a set of homers from — ryan flaherty — and — nolan reimold — , but it wasn’t enough as the o’s drop this one, 10-4 the final… and over to the nationals who were at home against the atlanta braves… and the nats jumped out to a hot start early on with a 5-run 2nd inning… with a 2-r-b-i double from michael taylor — and a 3-run homer out of jayson werth and that would be more than enough as the nats get the win in front of the home crowd, 8-4 the final. and the phills weren’t as hot on the road in boston… the red sox scored all 6 of their runs in the first 2 innings alone… the phills looked to jump back in this one, but didn’t get the job done… as philly drops this one to the sox, 6-2 the final… staying with philadelphia — chip kelly continued to shock the nation by cutting — tim tebow — who saw time in all 4 preseason games for the eagles.. “it was a lot of fun to be out there and play ball again and play with these guys… could this be the last time we’ll see tebow in an eagles uniform – or any n-f-l uniform for that matter — hopes seemed to be high for the former heisman trophy winner – especially after seeing matt barkley being traded to arizona… but now there is a new q-b in philly… stephen morris — a 2014 undrafted free agent out of miami — who saw time on the jaguars practice squad last season… morris played with — the eagles offensive line coach — jeff stoutland — during his time with the hurricanes.. and speaking of quarterbacks — a quick update for my redskins fans — r-g-3 isn’t going anywhere as of now… c-s-n washington’s — ben standig — reported earlier today that — quote — all quarterbacks are present and accounted for… r-g-3 seems to be working as q-b-3 — end quote — that’s it for sports. keep it right here — you’re watching 47 abc!
