OUT IN THE COMMUNITY
- Lenita Wesson continues to fundraise for her Chefs for Habitat project which wraps up this Saturday with an event at Dove Pointe. Lenita is still $630 short of her goal. If you (or you know of someone who) would like to make a donation to the cause, check with Lenita for details on how to do that. Every little bit counts!
- Friday at 5PM will be a ribbon cutting ceremony at the Gallery Building which was recently donated by Palmer Gillis to Salisbury University. S.U. President, Janet Dudley-Eshbach, will speak at 5:30. The increased presence of the university is a very good sign for future growth of the Downtown.
- Friday is also Third Friday in Downtown Salisbury and this week’s theme is Urban Artscapes. Hope to see you at both events.
- Travis Michels and I will be working at a Rotary wheelchair ramp build here in Salisbury this Saturday. Keep your fingers crossed for better weather than we had this past Saturday.
- Saturday evening, Lenita Wesson and I will be at the Chefs for Habitat Fundraiser at Dover Pointe.
- 47ABC and Shark Tank were recognized in two different articles in the Franklin P. Perdue School of Business Newsletter from the Dean. Both articles have been placed in the coffee table book.
- We received a thank you letter and stats from the Eastern Shore Mission of Mercy project in which we participated as a Media Partner back in April of 2015. They have been placed in the coffee table book.
MEET OUR NEW INTERN
Trey Robinson, Studio Intern, started with our Stations this past Thursday. He is a senior at UMES and has been on the Dean’s List three consecutive years. With a planned graduation for May 2015, I suspect he’ll make that four consecutive years! Trey is an English Major with a Minor in Telecommunications. He is looking forward to gaining hands-on experience with this internship. Please join me in welcoming him to the Team.
SUN OUTAGE SEASON IS APPROACHING ONCE AGAIN
- The September Equinox sun fades start on 1 October and peak around 8 October. All will be history by 13 October. The days with the most solar interference for us will be 7 – 10 October with afternoons being the most likely to be affected.
TIMELINE FOR THE NEW TELEPHONE SYSTEM
- This past Friday morning = Site Survey
- Tomorrow HVAC will be here to drill necessary holes for wires to pass between floors
- Friday, 9/18 = Equipment installation between 8AM and Noon
- Next Friday, 9/25, system will be activated
LIVE UNITED! The United Way fund drive starts this week and pledge forms will be distributed to Department Heads on Tuesday. Please fill out your form and return it to your supervisor at your earliest convenience. As you consider whether or how much to pledge, remember that

- United Way works to ensure that dollars are spent where the needs are the greatest and will have the most impact
- Administrative costs are currently at 16.6%, far below the national average of 37% for charities.
- United Way touched 1 in 3 Lower Shore residents in 2014
