The Clayton Theater is a gem and has actually been designated an historic site by the state of Delaware. It was built in 1949 and has been a touchstone for the town of Dagsboro ever since. It shows only one movie at a time which are always G or PG rated so it keeps with the family oriented theme of a small town. In 2014, when it became increasingly difficult to get reel-to-reel films, local residents supported a fund raising campaign that would allow the current owner, Joanne Howe, to purchase a digital projector. Walking into the theater transports you back in time to when you were a kid. In fact Delaware state senator Gerald Hocker meet his wife there. And guess what ! It even has a balcony ! If you’ve never been to the Clayton, this is a great opportunity.
