Back To Back! Pocomoke Field Hockey Claims Bayside Title

For the second straight year, the Pocomoke field hockey raised the hardware after the Bayside Championship game, as they defeated Kent Island 5-0. The win avenges the Warriors only regular season loss to a Maryland team.
The Buccaneers would come out of the gate, and for the first 8 minutes control the ball and apply early pressure. But once the initial nerves subsided for Pocomoke, they settled right in. Dani Batze would get the scoring started as she rifled in a beautiful shot from the left side of the circle with 21:34 left in the first half. Pocomoke would continue to attack and draw a couple more corners. Then on a break away, the ball would end up with Peyton Becker, who would drop it back to Lexi Butler who would fire it home to make it 2-0. Then just a few minutes later, the lead stretched to 3 after McKenzie Mitchell found Becker, who would be able to finish. Incredibly, the best first half of field hockey the Warriors had played all season wasn’t over just yet. McKenzie Beauchamp would come up with the ball at the far post and finish to give the Warriors a 4-0 halftime lead. The Buccaneers came out of to start the second half much more aggressive. They would generate some shots on goal by Abby Carpenter and Melissa Judge, but Dominique Fracce came up with several impressive saves in goal for the Warriors. Pocomoke would then put it away as Beauchamp would add one more for the final goal of the game.
Both teams now prepare for the Maryland State Playoffs which will get underway this Thursday.
