PARSONSBURG, Md. – Oct. 27th is National Black Cat Day, and Town Cats of Ocean City is celebrating by showing off some of their adoptable black cats, who may be the “purr-fect” furry best friend for you.

Susan Mohler, the President of town Cats of Ocean City, says that they want to break the negative myths and stereotypes surrounding black cats, by showing everything these friendly felines have to offer.

“Black cats get a bad rap.” Said Mohler.  “74% of them get euthanized in shelters. And about 10% get adopted. And why is that? People have superstitions about black cats because they’re usually associated with witches and sorcery.”

Due to the safety risks surrounding the holiday, they agency does not allow black cats to be adopted on Halloween. To view adoptable cats or to find a forever friend in a black cat to take home after the holiday, visit their website.
