Carsville man dead after reported car crash in Chesapeake

Police say they investigating fatal car crashes this weekend in Chesapeake, Virginia.

According to Virginia State Police, on Sunday around 2AM, police were called to investigate a two car accident on Interstate 64 east of Military Highway in Chesapeake.

Police, say the driver of a 2012 Freight-liner tractor trailer stopped in the right lane of travel because of a tree that was in and blocking the road. Afterwards, a 2000 Chevrolet Silverado, driven by 38-year-old Anthony Longoria, of Carsville, ran into the back of the tractor trailer. Longoria reportedly suffered life threatening injuries and was taken to Norfolk Sentara Hospital where he later died of his injuries.

It’s unclear at this time if alcohol was a contributing factor. Police say Longoria was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

Longoria’s family members have reportedly been made aware.
