Monday Memo – November 9, 2015

TO: ALL STAFF
FROM: KATHLEEN
DATE: 9 NOVEMBER 2015

OUT IN THE COMMUNITY

In this case, it is the Community that came to see us.  Stevens Middle School students spent a morning the Friday before last learning first-hand about the operation of our News Room.  Lenita (featured here in her Halloween cowgirl hat) treated them to the “inside  the newsroom scoop” and they thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity.  Perhaps we have enticed someone or several someones to become future broadcasters!

  • Another project Lenita is featured in is our annual support of local food drives to feed the hungry on Delmarva.  In case you haven’t seen it on air, here is a sample of what we are doing:   WMDTFoodDrive Circle2015 15?.  This project will continue through the end of the calendar year.  If you are involved in an organization sponsoring a community food drive, send me the pertinent information and I’ll see that a support spot goes into rotation.

VACATIONING BROADCASTERS THIS WEEK INCLUDE

  • Matt Finamore will be off tomorrow through next Tuesday
  • Lenita Wesson will be off Thursday (and)
  • Jessica Simpson leaves early Thursday

IT’S YOUR FUTURE!
Continuing education plays an important part in all of our lives and often correlates directly to our economic well-being in this rapidly changing business environment.  The Spring 2016 credit class schedule for Wor-Wic Community college is now available on-line at www.worwic.edu, if you have an interest.

UPDATE ON LOBBY RENOVATIONS:

  • We are expecting color/design recommendations from our furniture supplier Friday morning.
  • Still awaiting several quotes for painting and handrail work
  • Door replacements and TV area build-out will take place over the next week or two, as Brent’s schedule allows.

DURING THIS SECOND FULL WEEK OF THE NIELSEN NOVEMBER SWEEPS PERIOD, I want to remind you again of the importance of not accepting or participating in the Nielsen survey period.  If you do so, it could well invalidate the Sweeps process, a very expensive mistake.  If you receive a diary or a telephone inquiry, return the materials and explain that you are a broadcaster and cannot, therefore, participate.  Thanks for your cooperation.
