Salisbury man arrested for hit and run that seriously injured 7-year-old
SALISBURY, Md. – Salisbury Police have arrested a man following an investigation into a hit and run crash that seriously injured a 7-year-old child Wednesday evening.
Shortly after 6 p.m., officers responded to the 1100 block of E. Main Street for a reported hit and run accident. On arrival, officers found a 7-year-old male child being held by a person who allegedly witnessed the incident. The child reportedly had visible injuries to his head, face, and leg.
Investigation revealed that a gold early model Honda Accord was traveling westbound on E. Church Street, just west of the intersection of E. Main Street and E. Church Street. Police say the victim was trying to cross the street when the Honda Accord hit the child in the roadway. The driver then fled the scene without stopping to help the victim.
The victim was taken to TidalHealth Peninsula Regional but was transferred to Shock Trauma in Baltimore a short time later. The child’s condition is considered stable at this time.
Due to an overwhelming response from community members, detectives and officers were able to identify the driver as 35-year-old Jeremy Osborne Sr. Osborne reportedly responded to the Salisbury Police Department at approximately 9:30 p.m. Thursday and was charged with altering physical evidence, obstruct justice, induce/inhibit testimony, driving without a license, failure to remain at scene of accident involving bodily injury, and failure of driver involved in accident to render reasonable assistance to injured person.
Osborne is currently being held without bond.
