Thrift stores urge for useable donations
SALISBURY, MD- If you’re spring cleaning, thrift stores are urging you to think twice about emptying out your unwanted goods.
Stores like the Salvation Army of the Lower Eastern Shore depend on their donations.
Management tells us they’ve done very well despite the pandemic but want to remind customers good items resell.
We’re told when customers give things that are not sellable, they ultimately become trash.
Due to this, stores run-up more expenses, hurting their ability to help the community. “We just ask folks to consider that if they wouldn’t put it out in their house for like a yard sale, please don’t bring it to us because it might be trash,” said Captain Matthew Trantham.
Captain Trantham also says money made from good donations goes back into programs benefitting the youth, elderly and less fortunate.
