Eagles Fly Higher Than Seahawks

The Stephen Decatur girls basketball team ran into a buzz saw Saturday night in their first game of the Governor’s Challenge when they fell to McDonogh 72-30. The Eagles would jump out to a monster lead in the first as their full court press closed off passing angles all over the court. It created a lay up drill early as McDonogh would quickly build a 19-0 lead. Decatur would then finally get their first bucket of the game as Dayona Godwin connected on a triple to beat the buzzer to end the first. Amaya Mumford and Lexie VanKirk were able to add a couple scores in the second half as the offense finally found a little rhythm, but they could never overcome the deficit.

Decatur returns to action Monday when they play Walt Witman.
