Pocomoke Girls Stumble In Governor’s Challenge Opener

The Pocomoke girls basketball came up just short in their first game of the Governor’s Challenge tournament, when they fell to Walkersville 51-41. The Warriors will now face the loser of St. John’s Catholic Prep and Southern Garrett.

Pocomoke would come out of the gate hot, as Dynaisha Christian controlled the paint on her way to a 21 point, 16 rebound performance. Shayla Jones would also get going, connect on a 3, while also attacking the hoop. They would take a 9-6 lead into the second quarter, but Walkersville would find their offensive flow there. They connected on a couple outside shots and would take the lead by half, The Warriors then came out of the half and couldn’t find their rhythm in the third quarter, finishing with just 7 points in the frame. The lead would swell to 10 and the Warriors could never get back over the hump.
