Laurel man charged in mother’s murder

Members of the Delaware State Police say they arrested a Dukinson Appolon, 25, in connection with the homicide death of his mother Yolanda Georges.
Police in Laurel were reportedly called to the residence on West Sixth Street around 1:30 P.M. Thursday for a report of an unresponsive woman. Investigators from Delaware State Police say Georges, 61, was pronounced dead on the scene and had suffered serious trauma to her upper body.
Earlier Thursday, a Trooper was dispatched to an area near Bacons Road in Delmar for a report of a suspicious person walking in the middle of the road. Troopers say the suspect, Appolon, had attempted to cause harm to himself, causing the Trooper to deploy his divisionally-issued taser.
State Police say Appolon was transported to Nanticoke Memorial Hospital where investigators later learned that he was the son of Georges, and lived upstairs from her at the residence on West Sixth Street.
Appolon was charged with first degree Murder, and Possession of a Deadly Weapon During the Commission of a Felony.
He is being held without bail,
State Police say the Homicide Unit continues to investigate this incident and no motive has been established at this time.
