Atlantic General Hospital giving out Monoclonal Antibody Therapy, could prevent a spike in COVID-19 hospitalizations

BERLIN, Md.-Today, the Atlantic General Hospital gave out their first treatment of an antibody therapy for COVID-19 patients that could prevent a spike in COVID-19 and hospitalizations.

We are told Atlantic General Hospital is one of the six treatment sites for Monoclonal antibody therapy.

The therapy is an infusion therapy for people with COVID-19 before sever symptoms occur.

Also, it may help to reduce the chances of infection worsening.

We are told this treatment is important as it could be way to keep more people from being hospitalized.

“The last thing we want is for people to be admitted for covid,” Matthew Morris, VP of Patient Care Services, said.  “The goal would be to have less people symptoms progress to where they don’t need higher level of oxygen therapy and impatient hospitals stays.”

We are told due to limited doses available nationwide,  treatment is only offered for adults and children ages 12 and older, who are at greater risk of progressing to severe COVID-19.

If you are interested in this therapy, we are told you should contact your physician to see if you qualify.
