UPDATE: Wicomico Co. Board Of Ed. Bill in Committee

Senate Bill 145 is currently sitting in committee and could change how the Board of Education in Wicomico County is selected. If passed, as of this November, Wicomico County residents will vote on what kind of selection system they want.

Three options would be on the ballot. First, to keep the current system, allowing the state have the final say on all seven members. The second option, having county residents vote all seven members to the board. Or the third option, a hybrid, county residents vote in five and the other two would be state-appointed.

47 ABC spoke with Senator Eckhardt and she tells us the bill has seen plenty of support. Eckhardt also tells 47 ABC that at Thursday nights voting session, the bill was not on the voting list and she expects it to come up next week.
