Police: Suspect driver at large in hit-and-run

Police say the driver of a pick up truck remains at large as a result of a pedestrian hit and run car collision late Friday evening.

Salisbury Police reportedly responded to the intersection of N. Salisbury Boulevard and Wilson Street for a crash.

When they arrived on the scene, officers say they found a 51-year-old woman laying in the roadway unresponsive. An investigation has revealed she was walking across N. Salisbury Boulevard in the area of Wilson Street.

The suspect vehicle was reportedly traveling south on N. Salisbury Boulevard and as the victim reached the south bound lanes of the road, she was struck by the suspect vehicle.

She was initially transported to Peninsula Regional Center but due to her injuries, she was transferred to R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center for further evaluation and treatment.

We’re told the victim’s injuries are considered serious but not life threatening.

Police say witnesses had described the suspect vehicle as a white, F-Series, Ford pick-up truck with unknown damage to the front end.

So far, authorities say the operator of the truck was only described as being an older white male and no further descriptors were provided.

The investigation is on-going and the Salisbury Police Department says they are actively trying to identify the suspect vehicle, as well as the operator.
