Gov. Carney gives update on Rapid Workforce Training and Redevelopment Initiative

DELAWARE – Delaware Governor John Carney gave an update on the first state’s Rapid Workforce Training and Redevelopment Initiative. The initiative was started as thousands of Delawareans lost their jobs due to COVID-19. The goal of the program is to provide training and certifications for Delawareans who are trying to get back to work.

Gov. Carney says so far the program has been successful. He also says that over the last several months, about half of the Delawareans who lost their jobs have gotten back to work. “We know that our ability to rebound and get Delaware working again will in part be due to our ability to provide training for our individuals that need it to meet the high demand of jobs in certain sectors,” said Gov. Carney.

During Wednesday’s update, Gov. Carney said he hopes to see more Delawareans take advantage of the program. The governor says not only will it help get them back on their feet, it’ll help Delaware to become stronger. The initiative is expected to end in December.
