Small business “incubator” to spur economic development

It’s being called an *incubator* for small businesses.
The Eastern Shore Innovation Center has opened its doors to the public on Monday. The 13,500 square foot building is designed to spur economic development in the region.
Businesses can rent out office space and address issues together by offering advice and tips to each other.
The project costs about 2.4 million dollars and was funded by the state and county; however, Dorchester County Council president Ricky Travers says he believes this will be pay off, because it will attract more businesses.
“It’s an established facility that we have resources for them.” Explains Travers. “We have other mentors for them and a lot of the questions that a start up business needs to know, they can answer them right here.”
Six businesses are currently using the facility’s services. The center is now one of estimated 1,500 across the U.S.
