United States sees job growth in February

The U.S. added 242,000 jobs last month, up from the 172,000 gain in January. These numbers are according to the monthly jobs report released on Friday.
However, there’s a catch with this news. Wage growth is almost stagnant and Americans are working fewer hours per week. Dr. Memo Diricker, the director of BEACON at Salisbury University says this job growth is a sign of strength in the economy, but at some point there will be another recession.
Dr. Diricker continues, “More and more economists are predicting the next recession coming in the next 18 to 24 months. Hopefully they’re wrong. Hopefully that won’t be the issue, but recessions like everything else are cyclical. After a recovery, after a certain time, the economy has to readjust itself and contract a little bit. That’s a recession.”
The unemployment rate stayed at 4.9 percent last month. That’s the lowest mark since February 2008.
