Ocean City 2020 ArtX event brings attention to local art and businesses
OCEAN CITY, Md. – On Sunday, people in Ocean City immersed themselves in the arts as part of this year’s weekend-long Art-X event.
Some artists tell 47ABC the pandemic has made a big impact on their businesses, which is why this event was needed.
“We were supposed to do a bunch of other events in Ocean City that unfortunately ended up being canceled, so to have the opportunity to be at ArtX is so fantastic,” said Megan Burak, co-owner of Beach Realm Creations.
Burak tells 47ABC she started her business in January with the hopes to really grow, but with the pandemic, it’s been a tough year so far.
“It’s definitely been a tough year,” said Burak.
“We started this business in January of this year hoping to really break out, this was going to be our year, and then of course with COVID happening it’s been really stressful,” said Burak.
Meanwhile, Ali Jacobs, co-owner of T.C. Studios Arts and Entertainment Group, says the event was a chance to meet new customers in person rather than just virtually.
“The customer retention is definitely important, so being able to see them here whereas we might not have seen them earlier this summer is super important,” said Jacobs.
Overall, business owners tell 47ABC, they are grateful for the event and they’re looking forward to new opportunities to engage with customers in the future.
“A lot of our revenue is coming from events like this, so hopefully in the future, we can have more,” said Burak.
People at the event also got the chance to enjoy food trucks, live music and much more.
