GEORGETOWN, Del. – A group of Delawareans is gearing up for a “Walk of Change” Rally in Georgetown that’s planned for August 30th.

This peaceful demonstration will take place at The Circle in Georgetown.

It will feature several local youth leaders and advocates like Shamia Turlington, a member of the Delaware Juvenile Justice Advisory Group Committee.

The event organizer Jalyn Powell says her goal is to promote social justice and to continue to fight for equality.

She says the rally is a chance for people to get involved in the community and have an open dialogue about racism.

“If we come together with the creativity and the innovative minds of the youth and progressiveness of the youth, as well as the whys, experiences and words of the older, collectively we can come together and really foster change,” said Powell.

Other speakers at the event include Schlonn Hawkins a director at the United Way of Delaware.
