FEDERALSBURG, Md. – People from across Caroline County gathered this weekend to celebrate 60 years of the Eastern Shore Threshermen and Collector’s Association’s Wheat Threshing Steam and Gas Engine Show.

The annual event gives people a chance to learn about the history of agriculture on the Eastern Shore.

Kids got to see first-hand activities like sawmilling, corn grinding and more.

Organizers say the goal is to preserve agriculture history on the Eastern Shore and teach others about it.

According to the event organizer, Trish Layton Todd, the organization received a special letter from the Maryland Secretary of Agriculture commemorating the 60th Anniversary.

“We had to have a lot of the hand sanitizing, handwashing stations, promote social distancing, but the community needed something to come together and it was very welcomed,” said Todd.

Organizers say event-goers were encouraged to stay socially distanced and handwashing stations were provided as well.
