Accomack Co. votes to dissolve Onley Volunteer Fire and Rescue Co.

The Accomack County Board of Supervisors voted to dissolve the Onley Volunteer Fire and Rescue company on Wednesday night.

Officials say the reasoning is the number of effective members is less than 20 and the company has not provided fire suppression services or EMS transport services since earlier this year.

The company's operational medical director also ended services earlier this month.

There is no timeline when the company must dissolve but officials say that surrounding fire departments will respond to services in the Onley area. 47 ABC has not yet heard back from the Onley Volunteer Fire and Rescue Company.
