JTVCC inmate reportedly dies after lengthy illness

Officials say that an inmate at the James T. Vaughn Correctional Center died on Monday after a lengthy illness.

According to the Delaware Department of Corrections, 63-year-old Louis Schoenle of Millsboro, passed away in the infirmary at 3:37 p.m. His family has been notified.

Schoenle was serving a 14-year sentence for third degree rape/victim less than 16-years old, three counts of continuous sexual abuse of a child and three counts of sexual exploitation of a child. His sentence began on October 28, 2007.

Schoenle's body was turned over to the State Division of Forensic Science, as is standard procedure.

Foul play is not suspected.
