Butler’s Farm Market begins strawberry season

MARION STATION, Md. – Butler’s Farm Market in Marion Station is kicking off their strawberry picking season. “We just started picking. Two days ago was our first pick. We’re not getting a whole lot yet, but we just opened it up today for the you pick operation. So, if people want to come here and pick, it’s available to them,” said Michael Butler.

Butler says that the farm is selling out of their first quarts of strawberries fast. The farm offers pick-your-own strawberries, but is asking people to be respectful of social distancing and to continue wearing masks. “We’re asking you to follow the regulations with social distancing because there are some old people in this community that are very susceptible to it, and they do frequent our establishment. So just be polite when you come around,” said Butler.

Butler tells us that employees are also following safety guidelines, and that he and his wife are keeping their customers’ safety a top priority. Meanwhile, they’re just excited to get this season going. “We’re glad to get everything moving, and it’s the best time of year if you ask me. When you get that first quart of fresh strawberries and you’re able to eat that, that’s the beginning of everything, and it’s the best time it’s what I look forward to every year,” said Butler.
