Dorchester Co. fire causes $1k in damage to outbuilding

Officials say that they are investigating the cause of an outbuilding fire that happened in Rhodesdale on Monday afternoon.

According to the Maryland State Fire Marshal's Office, five Eldorado/Brookview firefighters responded to a blaze on Flamingo Drive at 1:29 p.m. They were alerted along with units from Hurlock, Federalsburg, Sharptown, Seaford and East New Market Fire Departments.

No one was injured and the fire took about five minutes to control after it was extinguished by the home owner and a deputy from the Dorchester County Sheriff's Office.

The fire started in the home and it was discovered by a resident.

The estimated loss of the home is $500 while the estimated loss of contents is $500 dollars.
