Police credit Facebook in taking down credit card thief

Police in Rehoboth Beach say, thanks to their Facebook followers a suspect has been apprehended in connection to a credit card fraud.
According to the Rehoboth Beach Police Department, 29-year-old William Herd of Felton turned himself into police Thursday after he was identified as the main suspect.
On February 20 police say a 65-year-old man reported his credit card was stolen while he ate at Salt Air Restaurant. At the time the card was stolen several purchases had reportedly been made on the card from various locations around Delaware.
Several of the businesses involved reportedly provided police with video surveillance of the suspect and the suspect’s vehicle. On Wednesday police released still photos of the surveillance footage to media outlets and on Facebook. That same day information was reportedly provided to the department by multiple followers of the their Facebook page, identifying Herd as the suspect pictured in the photos. Herd then turned himself into the Rehoboth Beach Police Thursday morning.
Herd was arrested and charged with one count of felony identity theft and felony theft, and six counts of misdemeanor unlawful use of a payment card. He was issued an $11,000 unsecured bail and released.
