UPDATE: Barricade situation resolved in Denton, residents return

Residents in one Denton neighborhood are safe to return to their homes, police say, following an hours-long barricade situation.

Authorities on scene tell 47 ABC the suspect they sought was not in the residence once the home was stormed, and it still unaccounted for.

Police say several weapons were located in the home, all of which were accounted for, so at this time there is no threat to public safety while police attempt to locate the suspect.

The incident began Thursday morning on Canvasback Lane and Market Street in the Mallard Landing area.

Around 10:20 AM on Thursday, the Caroline County Department of Emergency Services said on their Facebook page that the Denton Police Department, along with allied law enforcement agencies were on the scene of a “Police Emergency.” 47 ABC has confirmed that the incident is a barricade situation, however there are apparently no hostages.

Just after 2:15 PM, the Caroline County Department of Emergency Services updated saying that the Denton Police Department was advising parents who live in that area, to pick up their child at school.

Police evacuated people from their homes during the time of the incident, but as of about 9:30 P.M., officials say they were safe to return home.

47 ABC will bring you more details as they come in.
