THE EASTER EGG HUNT planned for the parking lot was canceled due to inclement weather.
OUT IN THE COMMUNITY
Jobina Fortson served as emcee for the Boy Scouts of America’s Delmarva Council 2016 Friends of Scouting Community Investor Breakfast. The event featured local dignitaries such as County Clerk of the Peace John Brady (who is also an Eagle Scout), Sussex County Councilman Rob Arlett and George Cole. They talked about the importance of scouting and the impact it can have on a young person’s life. Jobina was a Girl Scout and she talked about her personal experiences.
On Friday at the United Way Annual Luncheon, I was presented with the Jim Barrett Community Leadership Award. I am so honored to receive it…..and was absolutely stunned into speechlessness! I thought I was there to take pictures of one of our employees who was supposed to be getting an award! Jim Barrett set the bar high for philanthropic leadership and I am both appreciative and humbled that the United Way saw fit to present this award to me. I thank all of you for your personal congratulations (and covert actions by the Management Team to get me there) and remind everyone that it is the incredible Team I work with at 47ABC that really makes our level of community service possible. This award belongs to all of us!
On Saturday, Sales Manager Phil Bankert, Digital Director Greg LaFrance, Reporter Lissette Nunez, Meteorologist Jaisol Martinez and Account Executive Brian Ortiz worked at our Latino Flavor promotional booth collecting resumes at the Building Delmarva Job Fair in Georgetown (11AM – 4PM). Our participation was in partnership with Maxima Radio. There were 50+ employers there and hundreds of job seekers and folks seeking networking opportunities. Shown here are Phil Bankert, Lissette Nunez, Jaisol Martinez and Brian Ortiz.
- We received a thank you note from the Salisbury Christian School thanking us for our donation of a WeatherCaster Wannabe. Their Gala raised $48,000.
- We received a thank you note from the Willards Elementary School PTA for our donation to their auction on 5 March.
- On Thursday, Jaisol Martinez will be the speaker at the Lion’s Club meeting at St. Johns in Fruitland.
RENOVATIONS UPDATE:
Quote for railing came in significantly higher than anticipated. Will have to drop back and reconsider Plan B, which is a metal and glass rail.
- Lobby furniture is supposed to have arrived at our vendor last week. It is still a tad “vague” as to when it will actually get delivered to us.
- The replacement dividers for the Sales Department are due in today. The re-wiring is not yet complete and the electrician is on vacation until after Easter. We will have to live with the temporary “wiring” (orange extension cords draped over the cubicles) for a little while longer.
TO YOUR HEALTH! The signup sheets for free 2Q16 YMCA basic memberships are posted on the station bulletin board by the time clock. Please check your status and note if anything has changed. All comments and membership changes (additions and deletions) are due by the end of March.
