Colonels Win Ugly, Improve To 8-0

The Colonel Richardson baseball team hit the road Thursday afternoon, and picked up a 3-1 win at Washington. the win improves the Colonels to 8-0 on they year, while the loss drops the Jaguars to 0-7.
The teams would be in a bit of a pitchers duel early on. The Colonels would work the bases loaded with 2 outs in the first before Jimmy Mansfield would force a fly out to end the inning. Jaret Bennett would get the start for the CR, getting a strike out to start the inning. Julius White would draw a walk, then steal second to get a man within scoring position, but Bennett would get 2 more K’s to end the inning. The next few innings followed a similar pattern, where the Colonels would work runners into scoring position, but would be unable to capitalize. CR would finally take the lead in the 4th after a single got a man on first, was then followed by a deep double to center that would bring him home. CR would then go on to add 2 more runs in the 5th as they would take a 3-0 lead into the 7th. There, Washington would try and battle back. They would draw a bloop single, followed by another single and a walk to get the bases loaded. Jags would then bring in a run after a RBI base knock. Bennett though would settle down and close the door with back to back strike outs to end the game.
Washington returns to work on Friday when they host Crisfield, while Colonel Richardson travels to North Dorchester on Monday.
