Bay Bridge Run comes Nov. 8

Salisbury, Md. – The sixth annual Bay Bridge Run is on Sunday, Nov. 8.

Organized by Corrigan Sports, officials say the event is open to runners and walkers alike.
The 10K course spans from the eastbound part of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge in Anne Arundel County to Kent Island in Queen Anne’s County and afterwards runners celebrate with a post-race party.

“Since coming out of COVID, we’ve managed to take it from 8,000 all the way up to about 20,000 total participants,” Corrigan President and Race Director Lee Corigan said. “One of the great things that I think that this event does, number one, it showcases one of the gems of Maryland, and that is certainly our Chesapeake Bay and also showcases the bridge.”

He said most people don’t realize the bridge is 4.35 miles from shore to shore.

“It is truly, you know, a construction marvel, if you will, right?” Corrigan said.

Another aspect of the race that Corrigan looks forward to is the far-reaching appeal of participation.

“The great thing about the participation is the fact that we have runners from 47 different states and in three different countries this year,” he said.

Corrigan said the race’s local economic factor is also a boost to local communities.

“And the other thing that I think we’re all so proud about is that the coordination that it takes between the people on the western shore in Anne Arundel County, Annapolis area, and then the eastern shore, Queen Anne’s County, Kent Island, that whole area, and those two business communities come together,” he said.

Several charities are also involved in the race.

“The Haven Ministries, which is an organization in Queen Anne’s County, which supports homeless folks,” Corrigan said. “Then, of course, we have the people from Chesapeake Conservancy, and all the things that they’re doing to help preserve the Chesapeake Bay, which is awesome.”

The Chesapeake Conservancy team deadline is Oct. 30 at noon. To register for a cause, participants can register at their preferred charity’s team page. For more information on joining a cause, volunteering or registering, visit the Bay Run Page here.
