MILFORD, Del. – Mispillion Elementary School has reopened after a one day closure following Sunday’s fire at Lulu Ross Elementary School.

In a message shared by the Milford School District on Monday evening, Superintendent Travis Moorman said fiberoptic repairs at Mispillion were complete, allowing for normal operations at the school to resume on Tuesday, Oct. 27. The fiberoptic connection was disrupted during Sunday’s fire, as Lulu Ross and Mispillion share a campus.

Superintendent Moorman also shared that hub spots for students and families in need from Lulu Ross have been established to allow families to pick up meals while the school is closed. Each meal bag will include lunch for the current day and breakfast for the following morning, and have been provided through assistance from the Food Bank of Delaware. Meal bags can be picked up at the following locations during the specified times:

Additionally, because Lulu Ross serves as a polling place for many Milford voters, the Delaware Department of Elections Sussex County Office has relocated the polling place to Mispillion Elementary for general election day on Nov. 3. Letters have been mailed to all applicable registered voters to inform them of the change.
