Upgrades Completed at Delmar Truck Weigh Station
DELMAR, Md. – The State Highway Administration has completed upgrades to the Delmar Truck Weigh and Inspection Station located on Route 13.
The upgrades, started in Dec. 2025, were part of a $4.4 million project to modernize the site. This weigh station is one of two remaining scale houses constructed in 1955, and WMDT previously reported in 2016 on poor conditions at the station that led to the initiation of this project.
Upgrades at the scale facility included the following:
- New truck height detectors and an LED signal display
- Modern deep pit scales and computer system
- Additional parking for inspections
- Upgraded traffic barriers, lighting and closed-circuit cameras
- Improved signage
- Installation of eyewash stations for safety
- Refurbished entrance gates
- New office trailers with new modular buildings for inspections on both northbound and southbound sides
Officials say the weigh station property footprint was not enlarged as part of the modernization, and all improvements fit within the existing right-of-way.
