Senators Roar Past Lions

The Dover baseball team advance to the DIAA State Tournament quarterfinals Tuesday afternoon with a resounding 10-3 win over Red Lion. The Senators blew the game open with 7 runs in the bottom of the 1st, highlighted by a 2 run homerun by Garrett Lawson.

The Lions would come out and grab some early momentum as they would draw a walk, followed by two pass balls to get a runner in scoring position. That’s when Aaron Holiday hit one hard to 3rd, that would allow Xander Emberger to score. They would then force the bases loaded before Lawson was able to work out of the jam with a strike out.

It was all Senators from there. The home team would bat around the line up in the bottom of the 1st. Jordan Hutchins would start it off with a single to left, which was then followed by a 2 run moonshot over the wall in right by Lawson. The Senators would work the bases loaded again before Semaj Kelly would slap a 2 RBI single to right, scoring Tyler Rossello and Chris Webb. They weren’t done just yet as they would get a couple more runners in after Jarvis Worthy blasted a shot off the wall in left for a 2 RBI stand up double. Dover would roll the rest of the way for the playoff win.

The Senators now return to work on Thursday when they host 12th seeded Archmere.
