OC Mayor declares Civil Emergency due to coronavirus, announces precautions being taken by city
OCEAN CITY, Md. – On Monday, Ocean City Mayor Rick Meehan signed a local declaration of emergency proclaiming COVID-19 a health crisis in Ocean City.
In addition to Governor Hogan’s orders to close bars, dine-in restaurants, gyms, and movie theaters until further notice, the town has implemented additional precautions to help stop the spread of the virus.
City Hall will be offering reduced services, with no bus passes or passports being taken. The Visitors Center will also be closed, however phones will remain open. Events, meetings, and conventions at the Convention Center have been suspended and/or postponed. In addition, public transportation via Ocean City’s municipal buses that travel along Coastal Highway will operate on a winter schedule until April 5th, to allow employees to properly clean and disinfect buses properly.
