Marshals Investigating after Chester Burger King Catches Fire

CHESTER, Md. – The Office of the Maryland State Fire Marshal is investigating a fire that damaged the exterior of a Burger King in Chester.

On Wednesday, Jul. 8, at 7:23 a.m., crews with the Kent Island Volunteer Fire Department and other mutual aid companies responded to the Burger King on Kent Town Market after the manager called 911 to report a fire. Smoke alarms at the location were not operational at the time of the fire, but a fire alarm was sounded.

Crews battled the blaze on the exterior of the fast food restaurant for 10 minutes before successfully extinguishing it. The total damage to the Burger King and its contents is estimated to be valued at $45,000.

A preliminary cause of the fire remains under investigation. Anyone with relevant information about this fire is asked to contact the Upper Eastern Regional Office of the Maryland State Fire Marshal at 410-819-3500.
