Dill Dinkers Pickleball giving players a community
SALISBURY, Md. – With pickleball gaining credibility and popularity throughout the entire country, one local group in Salisbury is allowing players of all ages to get into games, learn, and build community.
Dill Dinkers Pickleball offers a new facility focused on inclusion and fun for everyone. Rojan Mathew, an employee and trainer for the organization, talks about what the sport means to him.
“Well, it means a lot of things, first its greatness, pickle-ball is one of the fastest-rising sports globally.”
These players on the Eastern Shore will get access to high-quality indoor courts, lessons, and parties for all skill levels. Regional developer Alex Kukich says it’s all about community.
“Our tagline is: ‘Your community, your club.’ What you have on Eastern Shore is a lot of people playing pickleball, but it’s been decentralized.”
According to local resident Terry Maguire, who has been playing for some time, this is finally a central meeting spot for all players.
“All the pickleball community goes to the YMCA, or to Crown, or Salvation Army, so they are not all together, but this gives them a chance to be together and play with people you normally don’t get to.”
Kukich says Dill Dinkers Pickleball is a place for people who want to get acclimated, and gain experience.
“We have beginner programs, this week alone we have signed up a number of people that never played, and our goal is to get them familiar with the rules, the strategy, and how to play, said Kukich. “And help them with friends of similar levels and give them a path to grow and get better.”
Maguire staes that the friendships made at Dill Dinkers are lifelong. “It’s a real sense of community, and I made a lot of friends when I started playing pickleball.”
