Deceased, young dolphin found along Broadkill

BROADKILL BEACH, Del. – The Marine Education, Research & Rehabilitation Institute responding to a dead juvenile bottlenose dolphin earlier this week.

The baby dolphin was found along Broadkill Beach in Sussex County on Monday.

The institute says the dolphin suffered injuries common to the species in which the males attempt to deter the young from being with their mother.

MERR arrived shortly after the call to dispose of the body before sunset.
