Salisbury Turns Out for the Annual Zoo Stampede 5K

SALISBURY, Md. – Crowds laced up their running shoes on Saturday, May 2, at the Salisbury Zoo for the annual Zoo Stampede 5K.

The race brought together runners and walkers of all ages, all supporting the zoo’s mission of conservation and education. Participants made their way through scenic paths around the zoo, passing animal exhibits along the route—making it a unique race experience you won’t find anywhere else on the Shore.

Organizers say the event not only promotes healthy living, but also helps raise money to care for the animals and improve exhibits — an impact not lost on the race’s participants.

“It’s amazing how many people come out here first thing in the morning in the cold to just do something like this to support the Salisbury Zoo,” said Kimberly Ford, a Salisbury resident.

Organizers say they’re thrilled with this year’s turnout and hope to make next year’s race even bigger. If you missed it this time around, registration details for the next Zoo Stampede will be posted on the Salisbury Zoo’s website.
