Billy Gene Jackson Park Clean Up

SALISBURY, Md – On Monday, April 20th, Perdue partnered with Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay to clean up Billy Gene Jackson Park.

It’s part of Project Clean Stream, which began in 2002 and helps keep trash out of our waterways, as well as bring the community together. People from the community were provided with gloves, a trash bag and a trash picker. Even Jim Perdue himself was there helping with the clean up.

Director of Environmental Sustainability, Ben Hildebrand, says this is just one of many events they have in collaboration with the Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay.

“Stewardship is one of Perdue’s core values.” Director of Environmental Sustainability, Ben Hildebrand said.

This is just one of many events Perdue has in collaboration with the Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay.

“We’ve done some grant work with them to, to try and pull more, funds in to help support our farmers,” Hildebrand explained. “Putting in riparian buffers and pollinator strips and things like that around chicken houses, and on farm acres.”

“Naturally, when you see the Perdue logo, you think chicken, and we’re more than just chicken, we’re here to help the community in ways that we can. Being something as simple as cleaning up trash.” Courtney O’Neal from Perdue said.

Last year, volunteers helped clear 12.5 tons of litter from our waterways. Perdue has a number of facilities throughout the Chesapeake Bay Watershed that helps with these efforts, including one in Bainbridge Pennsylvania that has events coming up.
