UPDATE: Team from Kazakhstan prepares to launch following Wallops success

from wallops island virginia — this is a picture from downtown salisbury of the launch last night — taken by rob korb. now — a u-s cargo craft full of gear and crew supplies is on its way to the international space station. but in kazakhstan — another rocket is set to launch three crew members to their new home in space early tomorrow morning. they are set to arrive friday morning. last night’s launch from wallops island — was delayed by five minutes. orbital a-t-k — which manufactures the antares rocket — explains the launch required absolute confidence. it was the first antares rocket to launch from wallops since october 20-14 — when one exploded shortly after lift-off. as we got into the last ten minutes of the countdown, they were through things very carefully and the launch conductor decided he wanted to take just a little bit extra time and make sure we didn’t skip anything, miss anything, make any mistakes the payload is expected to reach the i-s-s sunday morning. it will stay there until november.
