Two liquor-related bills being worked on in Worcester & Wicomico Counties

MARYLAND. – Delegate Wayne Hartman is working on some legislation for his districts in Wicomico and Worcester Counties.

The legislative session this year has primarily dealt with regulations concerning watermen, federal immigration policy, and redistricting. Delegate Wayne Hartman is working on liquor-related bills that would affect his district.

“They want to expand the number of commissioners on the board of licensing on the liquor commission from 3 to 5 –
and usually I don’t say that is a challenge, as bills are usually a last resort, but I think this is cut and dry, and I expect it to come out of committee shortly.”

Another bill focused on economic development, similar to laws passed in Wicomico County, could now be utilized in areas like Snow Hill and the town of Berlin for different events.

“And the other is for economic development, what it would do is much like Wicomico County would do in the past for the Folk Festival, which would create a process for licenses in a certain area to allow for liquor purchased in a place to come in and out of a restaurant.”

Crossover Day is set for March 23rd – stay tuned for more updates on legislation coming out of the 2026 Maryland General Assembly.
